Quiet Luxury For The Home & How To Achieve It
We’ve been hearing a lot about quiet luxury in fashion and now it seems this has filtered through to how we can adapt it into our homes. Perhaps a follow on from laidback luxury this trend offers an enduring sense of style, and I for one am all about that, we all want to have something that stands the test of time without the need to frequently replace it.
Personally I don’t see this as a passing trend as longevity is at the very core of this aesthetic approach to designing our homes which I find very reassuring as a way of creating a more considered home that will last for years to come. A more modest approach to luxury design which aims to create a sophisticated look that doesn’t scream extravagantly expensive and OTT, more of a subtle expensive look to your home.
So how do we go about creating this in our homes if this is something you would like to achieve?
I’m sharing my take on this quiet luxury home aesthetic if you want to give it a try.
The Colour Palette
The colour palette is thoughtfully curated using neutral tones and high quality materials such as solid wood, marble and stone.
This tonal palette encapsulates a pared-back feel, think of it as a calming neutral back drop on which to build upon.
Take your inspiration from nature such as colours found in sand stone, earth and wood. I like to think of it in terms of pebbles on a beach, you will find earthy beiges, taupes and grieges. Layer in your wood tones, textured stone and ceramics to create a soothing tonal minimal luxe look.
Focus on High Quality
Rather than buying trendy or expensive brands, choose pieces that are made from quality materials i.e. solid wood flooring rather than laminate, or beautiful Egyptian cotton bedlinen that washes well and lasts for years.
The aim is to create a luxurious atmosphere like a high-end spa or boutique hotel which is calm and relaxing and just feels elevated as oppose to in your face expensive branding.
Ambient Lighting
Soft diffused lighting using warm white bulbs will create a warm and inviting glow to your space which feels so welcoming.

Window Treatments
I thought I should mention window treatments as they can play a huge part in designing your room from function and practicality to dressing out the room, don’t underestimate the power of a pair of beautifully made curtains.
A simple but classic double pleat heading always looks timeless, if you prefer a more modern approach, opt for a simple wave heading for an uncluttered look.
Home Accessories
It’s all in the detail and accessories are the final touch to your design much like jewellery enhances your outfit, these are the pieces that bring everything together for you.
Choose home accessories that have clean, minimal lines over something too ornate and detailed and remember less is more.
