How I Style My Home For Autumn
How I style my home for Autumn
As you will have guessed by now I'm really getting set for Autumn. I like to start with a total de-clutter and deep clean. As I pack away summer cushions and light weight throws I swap them with cosy cushions and sometimes I will replace these with a few new ones just to keep it looking fresh.
I like to dress out the house with something more autumnal with textured vases and accessories. Even the type of flowers I use. I do love fresh flowers and it's my little indulgent treat every week but I do like using faux flowers because they really can create a statement.
An autumn wreath is also on my list and I may just use the one I had last year although I'm tempted by a few on the website below.
Stocking up on candles is a must and I adore the botanical candles from The White Company. I can't wait to try the pear, quince and amber scent.
Let me know if you've tried it out or if you have any other favourites for Autumn.
I've also ordered these little pear decorations and pumpkin table settings. I know I've probably too much time on my hands but I really love dressing the table especially if we have friends and family around as I like to make them feel special. And it just looks so pretty!
I have something similar to these placemats that I bought for summer (needless to say I didn't get the use out of them) so I'm looking forward to using them this season. I love the texture against linen napkins.

The Style Detail
Yes, it's no surprise velvet fabrics are not going away and given they are more hard wearing than you think it's not surprising. You will be seeing a lot of beautiful deep earthy tones so rich in colour that will sit perfectly in our Autumn setting.

Beautiful lighting can be an investment but they aren't throw away pieces. You can really add a statement that is timeless which you will enjoy for years to come. Updating your lighting for autumn will really enhance your home and more importantly getting your lighting right will work wonders.
Cosy Underfoot
You know I love large area rugs, and the bigger the better. There's nothing more cosy than feeling the warmth of a beautiful rug underfoot. I adore the luxurious look of the rugs available at The Sofa & Chair Company like the one opposite.
Season Essentials

I know I feel like a broken record about changing your cushions every season but it is one of the easiest ways to make a seasonal transition and who doesn't love snuggling into super soft cushions on the sofa. Adding a little bit of metallic doesn't hurt either as soft lighting really highlights their beauty.
Apart from being really useful, as we stock up on logs for the fire, using textures like wicker and seagrass baskets creates a wonderful autumnal feel to your home. These particular ones are from Neptune but TK Maxx are full of these baskets in all shapes and sizes especially the larger version which I use for storing extra throws and blankets.
Autumn Wreaths
I've noticed these are becoming more popular and not just for Christmas. You can even make your own if you have the time, or add your own finishing touches to a bought one. This one is from Lights4fun, find link HERE>>
