ON PINTEREST
- Start off by finding out about your style. Don't think too much about it, just start pinning ideas of rooms you like. Whatever it is i.e. living rooms - pin everything that you like about it and save it to a board. Create a new board and name it whatever your project is called.
- When you have 20 pins or more you will start to see a pattern evolve with things you are drawn to. It could be the type of wood used, style or colour. Whatever it is, this is your style developing.
- Choose colours or wallpaper you like based on how you want the room to feel.
- Add items on your board that you already have that are staying or find something similar even if it's the colour of the wood or finish.
- Source items that you would like for this room even if it's a wish list or something to work towards.
IN YOUR DESIGN FILE PRINTABLE
- Make notes of what you like about each pin.
- Write out what you want for this project. How you want it to feel as well as look.
- What needs doing now.
- What's staying and what needs to be replaced.
- Research the cost of these items and add them to your design file, this will help you form a budget if you don't already have one.
- List what you need help with now to get moving forward with your project.
WHAT ARE YOU STRUGGLING WITH...
- I.e. choosing a colour scheme
- Sourcing items of furniture.
- Finishing off the room and pulling it together.
- Window treatments.
Whatever it is, write it all in your design file. You can even email this over to me at h.calder@heatherinteriordesign.co.uk to get an estimate of work on your design project to plan ahead. You can also do this be uploading it on to the design questionnaire HERE>>
