BLACK FRIDAY HOME SHOPPING
Shopping For The Home On Black Friday
If you’re ready to grab some deals while shopping for your home during Black Friday week I have a few tips for you that will help you make the right decision for your home and not get caught up with buying unnecessary home items just because they are a bargain in the sales.
We all love a great offer and Black Friday sales are already underway. So how do we shop without making poor buying choices and getting caught up in the sales frenzy.
My Quick Guide
Black Friday Shopping List
Go around each room of your home and assess what needs to be bought, if you are planning on buying items for one room only, this will be easier.
Make a list of what you really need and prioritize. This will stop you from buying other unnecessary items just because they are a bargain. We’ve all been there, you just can’t resist the bargain and snap it up, only to realise later when it arrives, a) you don’t need it b) it doesn’t go with anything else in your home and worst of all c) it doesn’t fit. It’s so important to research what you need before you go shopping.
Shopping For Quality Home Items On Black Friday
You really want to look beyond the price tag if it’s a good quality item, especially if it’s a big ticket item as you don’t tend to buy large items all the time and therefore will want it to last.
Measure Everything
I can’t stress how important this is, when you want to snap up a deal. Do your homework first and measure where the item is going. Remember to include windows, doors and take into consideration where radiators are placed.
Make a little floor plan, it doesn’t need to be perfect but do mark on it the positioning of windows and doors, sockets etc. Another easy way is to mark out the items on the floor with masking tape before buying.
It’s difficult to estimate whether a piece of furniture will fit in the room when when you’re looking at it online or in a furniture store. By marking it out on the floor you will have something that you can walk around to see if it fits properly in the room and how it will work in relation to other pieces in the space, i.e. spatial layout.
Don’t Make These Shopping Mistakes
A common mistake when buying furniture in the sales especially a sofa, is not being able to fit it through the door or narrow entryways, especially if you live in an apartment. I remember many years ago when I worked at a furniture store, a lady bought a beautiful sofa for her apartment only to realise she couldn’t get it through the door, all I can say is, there was a cherry picker involved and the removal of a large window! We don’t want that to happen ;)
Impulsive Buying
Don’t make impulsive buying mistakes just because it’s in the sale.l Ask yourself if you really need it, is it useful, will you still love it a year down the line.
