Storage & spatial layout:
It seems the word clutter is coming up quite a bit in your answers which is why it’s always important to clear the area completely in order to see the space properly. This can be a pain but it will be well worth it in the end plus there are professionals who can help you with this if life is too busy, which is even better! I will leave the link below. In the meantime if you can make a start on clearing out the room temporarily and store it in a garage/shed/roofspace/spare room. You will then assess the room as a blank space and thinking of the type of games you have, what’s the best way to store these? Think vertically, a wall of shelving along with a sideboard perhaps (maybe down the line you would want something purpose-built. Do you require seating and a table? Map these out on the floor with masking tape so that you have something physical to walk around while still creating a flow in the room, maybe a round table would suit better than square or rectangle.
Colour: When choosing colours, always think of how the room is being used and how you would like it to feel, taking into consideration the light you are working with in the room. A cosy and intimate space for watching t.v. Think of deep colours. If you want to create a sense of calm (you mentioned a good night’s sleep) perhaps soft blues or greens (eau de nil) which is a soft blue green has been used for many years as a bedroom colour probably because it feels so serene. You mentioned you love the colour in the back bedroom? What is it you like about it? Does it fall in to the cold or warm colours? This may give you some indication as to why you like it, is it how it feels in the room, perhaps the light. When choosing colour, always paint samples onto a 2ft x 2ft square card or sheet, with two coats of paint and place it around the room, then look at this morning, noon and evening light to see how it changes colour and if you like it, bearing in mind whether the room is used during the day or evening. You can also choose paints that are more pet friendly as well as eco-friendly and don’t cost a fortune. I like Coat Paints for this plus they do have a smaller painted sample that you can peel and stick onto the walls to try out.
Your Lifestyle
You mentioned trouble sleeping and would like a comfortable night’s sleep. Ways to create a comfortable night’s sleep would be of course, eliminating clutter around the bed (it also clutters our mind).
Is it the mattress, do you need to replace it or try adding a mattress topper? (spend a bit more on this, it really is a game changer).
Is it the colour? Maybe it’s too colourful, lots of pattern going on and not restful. You could even try a deep dark colour on all of the walls, this actually works very well, even in small rooms.
Bedding: Choose bedding that is breathable and regulates your temperature through the night.

Tackle This First
Declutter - This will allow you to see what you are working with and how to use the space to full advantage. Try this link if you would like help with this. Order in the House. If you want to do this yourself, try to block out the weekend or a few days depending on how cluttered it is. Organise into 3 x piles. Keeping, Donating and Trashing (make sure the trashing pile goes straight into the car to be dumped otherwise the place will feel even more cluttered). Things always look worse until you work through it.
Paint Colour: Choose a colour that you love, remember your flooring and furniture are colour too, so take this into consideration when choosing a colour i.e. Blues and greens look good with light oak flooring in a scandinavian, country farmhouse look as well as some of the deeper colours including Burgundy or cinnamon. Coat Paints.
