Local Custom-Made Furniture

Nothing quite feels unique to your home than having furniture custom-made, whether it’s sofas, chairs or cabinetry, you can rest assured it will fit your room to scale perfectly and using local artisans for quality workmanship means you get to have everything close at hand from conception to install whilst supporting local artisan businesses.

Made-to-order furniture, offers a unique blend of personalisation, quality, and long-term value. Unlike mass-produced pieces, which are designed for broad appeal and cost efficiency, made-to-order furniture allows you to create items that perfectly match your taste, space, and lifestyle. The level of customisation means you can choose the exact size, fabric, colour, and even the cushion firmness, ensuring that your furniture not only fits your room but also reflects your personal style and comfort preferences. We take everything into consideration, including leg length (an important factor if you’ve ever tried sitting on some sofas - not comfortable).

Custom furniture is an investment, and one you shouldn’t regret. Take for instance an awkward room or a large open plan area that you’re not sure how to go about creating a seating arrangement for you and your family. Having your sofa crafted to suit your individual needs will feel more relaxed, not over imposing or too close for comfort.

One of the key benefits of made-to-order furniture is the superior craftsmanship often involved in its creation. Since these pieces are crafted to your specifications, they are typically made with higher quality materials and greater attention to detail. Skilled artisans take the time to ensure that every aspect of the furniture meets exacting standards, resulting in a product that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also durable and long-lasting. This focus on quality often means that made-to-order furniture can withstand the rigors of daily use better than mass-produced alternatives.

Bespoke Sofas

Case Study One: Our client didn’t want a corner sofa in this room, she wanted a formal lounge that was still comfortable enough to stretch out on and watch t.v. while at the same time would look good when they had guests over. Quite a lot of the sofas we looked at were quite deep and didn’t feel right on the floor plan so we decided to go with made-to-measure sofas. We had these sofas designed in a high-performance fabric for practical living conditions, the wood plinth and legs along the bottom created a feeling of space and a touch of warmth. To finish it off we designed some custom made cushions for our accent colour.

Bespoke Accent Swivel Chair

This little accent swivel chair was created in the right proportions for the room, the curved lines created space and ease in the room, we continued the same colour of wood in the plinth and added a textured fabric to the back of the chair.

This cute little cushion sets it off!

Case Study Two: Our client requested a seating area with two accent chairs in a soft eau de nil colour way. We chose this beautiful fabric from Osborne & Little which looks like a linen but in fact is an extremely durable upholstery fabric along with a two-toned horizontal fabric on the back and seat cushion for texture. Again the scale and size of these pieces worked perfectly in the room.

Bespoke Bench Seating

Case Study Three: Our client wanted to create a focal point in the entrance hall with an antique mirrored backdrop, there are two alcoves in this entrance hall which mirror exactly. (Our client kindly provided this image for us).

The brief was to design a little bench to suit the size and scale of the mirrored backdrop, we thought these little attached bolsters complemented the look and her upholsterer made a wonderful job of them.

Bespoke Bar Chairs

Case Study Four: Having the perfect bar chair for the kitchen island is a must. This is an extremely hard working area, the hub of the home, a place to sit while working from home, breakfast or lunch with family or enjoying drinks with friends, it’s a hard working area. Having chairs that offer comfort first and foremost was the order of the day. Their generous size worked perfectly in scale to the kitchen island. We used a textured fabric and created some detail on the back with a little studding.

Another significant advantage is the environmental impact. Made-to-order furniture is often produced with sustainability in mind, utilising responsibly sourced materials and minimising waste. Because these pieces are created specifically for you, there’s no surplus inventory, reducing the likelihood of excess products ending up in landfills. Additionally, the ability to choose durable, eco-friendly materials means that your furniture is not only tailored to your needs but also contributes to a more sustainable lifestyle.

Overall, investing in made-to-order sofas and chairs is an excellent way to ensure that your home is furnished with pieces that are both functional and uniquely yours. The combination of personalisation, quality, and sustainability makes it a smart choice for anyone looking to create a comfortable and stylish home for years to come.

We haven’t touched on bespoke cabinetry which I suspect will be another blog post and arranging photography work to capture the true beauty of this craftsmanship, so stay tuned!
