How To Make Your Living Room Look Luxurious
Being stuck at home all day certainly makes us take a good hard look at our living space, it's not surprising we want to clear everything out of it and start again. But let's do what we can at the moment and plan ahead when this is all over. Here are a few things you can start putting into action...
1. Eliminate Clutter
Simplify your space and get rid of clutter. If you can, clear out the room entirely and only bring back those pieces that you really need, love or want. Anything else can go.
2. Colour
Colour is the easiest way to make a huge change to a room. Go for a sophisticated and polished palette, taking into consideration the ceiling colour to complement the walls, trim and woodwork. A well considered colour scheme will feel more cohesive and will work with your existing furniture pieces.
3. Mix It Up
Add a few high end statement pieces to your space where you can. Investing in beautiful table lamps can elevate the look and make a difference. A statement mirror or accessories will also do the trick.
4. Colour & Scent
This has got to be one of the easiest but effective ways to add a little luxury. Fresh flowers that greet you when you walk through the door. If this is high maintenance, invest in more expensive faux flowers or plants. The more you spend, the better they look.
5. Candles
Who doesn't love their favourite scent when you light a candle in the evening to relax and wind down after a busy day. My favourites are Jo Malone, Pomegranate Noir or Diptique, Baies or Genevier. Do you have any favourites to share?
6. Layer Your Decor
Start layering your space with a large area rug, and don't make the classic mistake of going too small. For a really lux look you want to have your seating arrangement all on the rug. Yes, I know this is expensive but it really is worth it.
I hope you find these steps useful and a nice distraction while still under lock down. And if you would like more free tips, advice and inspiration remember to sign up for the monthly newsletter.
