Designing Your Dream Home: Your Guide To An Inspired Interior Design Consultation
Our home consultation stands out as one of the most cost-effective and convenient options when seeking assistance and inspiration for your living space. With up to two hours access to expert interior design knowledge accumulated over years of experience, as well as qualified expertise, you’ll gain invaluable insights to guide your decisions for your home.
Embarking on the services of an interior designer might initially raise questions like, “Can I afford this?” or “Will it be worth it?” However, for those who have experienced a design consultation, the benefits far exceed any concerns about cost.
Consultations have been incredibly valuable to my clients over the years, with many forming long-term relationships with Heather Interior Design. Others have found just the right amount of information to ignite their creativity and feel confident in moving forward with their decorating projects.
We find it immensely rewarding to witness how much assistance we can provide during a design consultation and feel the excitement as our clients anticipate the transformation of their homes.
So what can you expect from a consultation
Beforehand, we typically ask you to fill out a short design questionnaire just to get to know you a little better and understand your preferences and dislikes. The consultation itself can last up to two hours depending on what’s involved or we can concentrate on one room, it really is up to you. A walk through of your home means you can have the benefit of gathering information as we go (I would advise taking a notepad as you will want to take down all of those design nuggets). Since the pandemic, a virtual consultation has opened up instant access to the interiors world, especially for those further afield, this can be via zoom or face time, we can guide you on the best way to showcase your space or even send over photos before our home visit.
What does the designer bring to the consultation
During the consultation we can explore paint colour swatches, fabrics and wallpapers together. We’ll also take any necessary measurements if required.
As this is a first meeting we won’t delve into the intricate details like we would in a full colour consultation (which is a separate design service in itself, as it requires more time). However, rest assured, you’ll leave the consultation armed with a wealth of information on home decorating - there’s quite a lot to absorb in one session!
We can look at the best treatments for your windows, touch on floor layouts and lighting options to make the best use of your space and much more.
What Happens After The Consultation
After having discussed your preferences and aspirations of your home, you might feel ready to tackle the project on your own, armed with the insights we’ve provided. Alternatively, if you’re looking for a tailored design service, we can create a bespoke plan to meet your needs.
If you opt for HID to undertake the scope of design work, we’ll send you a Welcome Pack detailing our design process and fees.
Once you’re ready to proceed, we’ll guide you through the next steps to bring your vision to life!
