Get Your Living Room Summer Ready
Getting your living room ready for summer puts us in the mood for the holiday season especially if you are staying at home this year. Creating a lighter feel in our homes with textures and finishes that evoke feelings of holidays abroad. Scent and touch comes into play when choosing elements for your living room. It doesn't take much to switch out your living room accessories and won't break the bank as you can use these seasonally every year.
Getting your living room ready for summer. Basic Essentials.
Cushions
Choose cushions in soft linen, and add a little pattern to the mix. You can pick these up on the high street just remember to change the filler and size up.
Curtains
If you really want to create an airy, light feel to your interiors, you could change your curtains to voiles, as long as you don't need them for privacy, and let your curtains float in the warm breeze on summer evenings.
Scent
Update your home with scented candles that remind you of your favourite holiday or somewhere that takes you to a place of relaxation and warmth.
My favourites include Plum & Ashby but I'm looking forward to trying out some of these . See link in blog below.

Accessories
Choose textures like wicker, bamboo, and clay. If you want to add colour, try blues and whites for that chic, relaxed Ralph Lauren style
Flowers & Plants
Keep flowers and plants simple and rustic, you could even use what you have in the garden or choose single stems in tall vases.
Area Rugs
I know this can be a little confusing as to choosing the right size rug. My rule of thumb is either all furniture on the rug or at the very least big enough to have the front legs of your furniture on. You won't believe the difference this makes , trust me.
Choose styles in sisal or jute. Ikea are great for this type of thing, try MORUM 160 x 230cm

Out Door Room
Continue your theme by styling your patio area with cushions and throws. Place a rug under your garden furniture and create another out door room to lounge in. Add out door floor lamps, tables lamps and accessories like you would in any other room.
Fire pits, patio heaters and cozy rugs will make you want to spend the evenings outside a little longer.
